Great Smog of London.
London Smog: The Smog that covers city of London and lasted for five days from 5 December to 9 December in 1952.
The greatest caused due to the combination of industrial pollution and high pressure weather condition.
The Great smog resulted thousand of deaths. It was a period of usually cold weather combined with and anticyclone and when conditions collected air pollution mostly arise due to the use of coal.
During this cold weather Londoners use much for cold and usually to keep warm themselves. The great smog of London affected that the visibility was reduced to few meters which makes driving difficult or almost impossible public transport were stopped, ambulance services stopped, smog was so dense resulted cancellation of concerts, film screenings, outdoor sports were cancelled. People could not even walk out of those.
It also affected the learners that almost 4000 people where killed in 1953 Marcus Lipton suggested that the fog caused 6000 death's and 25,000 people had claimed sickness benefits.
Research published in 2004 suggest that the number of fatalities were estimated about of 12000 most of the victims were very young or elderly, or those who had pre-respiratory problems. Most of the death caused by respiratory tract infection from hypoxia. It caused environmental impact on people that the government offer financial incentive to households to replace open coal fire with alterative like gas fire installing Central heating using gas, electricity, oil or permitted solid.
